pets and such
I have a ranger that I think I may lvl up (15 in nf) and I was wondering what is the most efficient way to level up a pet.
should try out death leveling? maybe just tame it and have it level up with me?
and is there anyway to charm a pet that is already a bit higher level than like 3~?
thanks

You can use a build dedicated to your pet and it will level fast.
When i death leveled my polar bear it got to a dire lvl 16 in 3 hours so yes i would recommend it.
Some pets are already level 20 such an a rainbow phenoix than you get in your Hall of Monuments after you achieve the People Know Me r2 maxed titles title.

I'm pretty sure the rainbow phoenix starts at level 5. The black widow in the underworld starts at level 20 though, and there are a few level 15 charmable pets around the world too.
Oh, and yes, I've found death levelling to be an efficient way to get levelled dire pets if you don't mind that it's kinda cheap. Otherwise you can always just keep the pet with you all the time and it will gain experience while you do.

spider runs are pretty expensive, arent they...dont think thats an option.
ill look into those lvl 15 charmables, but ive been interested in death leveling...is there any very good guides on it? there is one on wiki but it doesnt go very in depth and ive heard people having trouble with the pet running away.

What you are asking depends on what kind of pet you want.
If you don't care if its dire, hearty, or elder then just take the pet with you and let it level up normally. Death leveling is boring and a waste of time unless you are trying to evolve the pet a certain way. The fastest way to get a pet to level 20 is in wurms, although you may not be that far in NF yet. Please note that if you level a pet in wurms it will not evolve, so it will be a level 20 but won't be dire, hearty, or elder.
If you are shooting for a particular type of pet then you may need to look into death leveling. I believe elder and dire require some extra work to make the pet evolve that way, however hearty should come pretty easy during normal course of play. I would never death level a pet unless I was sure I wouldn't be getting another one. There is a good chance you will replace your pet later in the game when you have access to areas with better pets. But then again this pet may be the only one you ever get. Try doing a guru search on pet leveling, I believe you should find some decent guides.

Start with that one and go from there. Good luck.

Death levelling is pretty simple though... just bring a hero with rebirth (or resurrect, but I like rebirth) and disable any other spells they can use to heal you. Set the hero on the non attacking mode (so they don't kill the animal) and flag them where the animal is. Then take off all your armor (except sometimes I wear a yule hat with a superior rune, for the -75 health) and let the animal kill you. The hero will keep ressing you every time you die, so you don't have to watch it the whole time (though if you've never done it before, you might want to check it now and then to make sure it's working).
That's pretty much it.
